Genre
Math Rock
Math rock is a subgenre of rock music characterized by complex, atypical rhythms (often including irregular stopping and starting), frequent use of irregular time-signatures, and dissonant, angular guitars. Math rock gained popularity in the mid to late 90s, when groups like Polvo and Chavez had small but dedicated followings among indie and noise rock fans on college campuses. The peak of this genre came in two waves, one in the mid- 90s, and one in the dawn of the modern internet, in the mid to late 2000s.
