Hardgroove is a form of techno that relies heavily on samples and percussion. Lots of intertwined samba/bongo grooves with a distortion and sidechain compression applied.
Hardgroove is a fusion of energetic techno with raw Chicago, Caribbean, and Latin rhythms.
The name "hardgroove" probably first appeared in 1996, with Ben Sims's Hard Groove Trax mixtapes.
