Post-punk Revival
Post-punk revival, also known as indie rock revival, is a subgenre of indie rock and a musical movement that emerged in the early 2000s. It developed as a stripped-down, back-to-basics style of guitar rock influenced by the sounds and aesthetics of post-punk, new wave, and garage rock. The movement is closely linked to the new wave revival and garage rock revival.
The genre emphasized a sense of rock authenticity, which was seen as a reaction against the commercialism of MTV-oriented nu metal, hip hop, and post-Britpop groups.
