Essentially a hybrid between vise and pigtraad (pigtråd) and Nashville soft country & western, the first dansktop song was an innovative move don by Keld & The Donkeys when they recorded "Ved Landsbyens Gadekær" on a single in 1966 - which became a huge hit. The song was an old danish standard played as pigtråd, an electric style until then associated with music that covered or was inspired by The Shadows and The Beatles.
