Organisers on Sway can now sell tickets in 16 currencies, including US dollars, pounds sterling, Swiss francs and Canadian dollars. Promoters in 38 countries can now connect a payout account, choose the currency they are paid in, and keep receiving the full ticket price on a standard local card.

What changes for organisers

Until now, every event on Sway sold in euros and every payout account was opened in Belgium. That worked for a club in Brussels or a festival in Lyon. It did not work for a promoter in Manchester, Zurich or Toronto, whose fans expect to see a price in their own money and whose bank expects a payout in it.

Sway now sells tickets in EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD, NZD, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, RON, SGD, HKD and MXN. You pick the currency when you create the first ticket type of an event, and every ticket type of that event then sells in it. Discount codes follow: a fixed-amount code is written in the event's currency, and a percentage code works everywhere.

The ticket editor only offers currencies your payout account is paid out in, starting with its main one. So a sale is never converted on its way to your bank, and you never lose a conversion fee you did not choose.

Pick your country when you connect payouts

The country of your payout account sets the currency Stripe pays you in. On the Payouts tab of your page, Sway now asks for the Country of your business before it hands you over to Stripe. Each country in the list shows its currency, for example United Kingdom · GBP or United States · USD, and the list opens on your browser's country when Sway supports it.

Choose carefully: Stripe fixes the country when the account is created. The Connect Payouts guide lists the 38 countries and what to have ready before you start.

The service fee in every currency

Buyers still pay the service fee, per paid ticket, and free tickets still carry none. In euros nothing moves: 3% + €0.30. In other currencies the fixed part is the local equivalent and the percentage follows what card payments cost in that country, because Stripe charges a US card more than a European one. The point stays the same: on a standard domestic card, the price you set is the price you receive.

Currency Service fee per paid ticket
EUR 3% + 0.30
GBP 3% + 0.25
USD 4.5% + 0.35
CHF 4.5% + 0.35
CAD 4.5% + 0.45
AUD 3.5% + 0.50
SEK 3% + 3.50
PLN 3% + 1.30

A $20.00 ticket carries a $1.25 fee, so the buyer pays $21.25 and you receive $20.00. The full table, with all 16 currencies, is on the Service Fee page.

Plans and boosts in your currency too

Starter and Studio are now priced in dollars and pounds for organisers in the United States and the United Kingdom: Starter at $19 or £16 per page per month, Studio at $59 or £49 per crew per month. Fans boosting a page from the web pay $2.99, $6.99 or $14.99 in the US, and £2.49, £5.99 or £12.99 in the UK. Everywhere else, the checkout shows the euro price in the visitor's own currency. See the pricing page.

What stays the same

Your events, your buyers' data and your direct payouts do not change. Ticket money still lands straight in your own Stripe account, and Sway never holds it. Events already on sale keep their euro prices; a ticket type that has sold keeps its currency.

Frequently asked questions

Which currencies can I sell tickets in on Sway?
Sixteen: EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD, NZD, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, RON, SGD, HKD and MXN. Each event sells in one currency, chosen with its first ticket type.
Can I change the currency of my payout account later?
No. Stripe fixes the country of the account, and with it the payout currency, when the account is created. Choose the country of your business on the Payouts tab before you connect.
Is the service fee the same in every currency?
In euros it stays 3% + EUR 0.30 per paid ticket. In other currencies the fixed part is the local equivalent and the percentage follows the local cost of card payments, so the organiser still receives the full ticket price on a standard domestic card.
