Create a Venue
How to create a venue or location page to the Sway mobile application.
Create a Venue
Venues on Sway are physical locations where events take place: clubs, warehouses, outdoor festival sites, bars, concert halls, etc. A dedicated venue page aggregates all events held there and shows the location on a map.
How to open the creation screen
- Open the Settings page or the Explore page → tap the + button.
- Choose Venue.
Form fields
Cover image (required)
Tap the camera icon at the top of the form to select a photo from your gallery.
- Best results: a wide shot of the venue interior or exterior.
- Recommended: 16:9 or square, minimum 800 × 450 px.
- Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.
Venue name (required)
The official name of the location.
Description (required)
- Supports Markdown formatting.
- Use the Preview tab in the toolbar to check the rendered output.
Tips for a good venue description:
- Describe the venue: capacity, sound system, history, atmosphere, accessibility, etc.
- Music genres and resident artists can be assigned after creation from the venue edit page.
- Social media, website and contact links are not yet available for venue pages — this feature will be added in a future update.
Address / Location (required)
Enter the full address of the venue (street number, street name, zip code, city, country).
Example of a well-formatted address:
Berghain, Am Wriezener Bahnhof, 10243 Berlin, Germany
Submitting the form
Tap the Create Venue button at the bottom.
What happens next:
- The venue page is created on Sway.
- You are automatically added as the Administrator of this venue page.
- You are automatically set as a follower of the venue.
- The venue appears on the Sway map and can be linked to future events.
After creation
Once the venue page is created, you can:
- Edit all details, add music genres and resident artists from the venue page.
- Invite team members to manage the page: Settings → Manage → Edit button → shield icon on the edit screen.
- Link events to this venue when creating or editing an event.
- Share the venue page with others so they can follow it.
