How to update a venue page on the Sway mobile application.

Edit a Venue

Keep your venue's information accurate and up to date so event-goers can find it easily on the map and in search.


How to open the edit screen

  1. Navigate to the venue page (search by name or find it via Settings → Manage → Venues).
  2. Tap the edit icon (✏️) in the top-right corner of the venue page.

The icon is only visible to users with Manager or Admin permissions on this venue.


Editable fields

Cover image

Tap the current image to replace it with a new photo from your gallery.

  • Recommended: square (1:1), minimum 400 × 400 px.
  • Good options: logo, interior photo, entrance exterior, aerial view during an event.

Venue name

The official name of the location.

Description

The public description of the venue.

  • Supports Markdown formatting.
  • Use the Preview tab to see the rendered output.
Tips for a good venue description:
  • Describe the venue: capacity, sound system, history, atmosphere, accessibility, etc.
  • Social media, website and contact links are not yet available for venue pages — this feature will be added in a future update.

Address / Location

Update the physical address of the venue by entering the full address (street number, street name, zip code, city, country).

Example of a well-formatted address:

Berghain, Am Wriezener Bahnhof, 10243 Berlin, Germany

Music genres

Tap Manage Genres to open the genre selector:

  1. Tap a genre chip to add or remove it.

Resident artists

Tap Manage Resident Artists to link artists who regularly perform at this venue:

  1. Search for an artist by name.
  2. Tap to add or remove them.

Linked promoters

Tap Manage Promoters to link the promoter(s) that own or regularly operate this venue:

  1. Search for a promoter by name.
  2. Tap to add or remove it.

Managing team members

If you are the Administrator of a venue, you can grant access to other users:

  1. On the edit screen, tap Manage Team (or access via Settings → Manage → Venue → shield icon).
  2. Search for a Sway user by username.
  3. Assign a permission level: User, Manager or Admin.

Notification preferences

As an administrator, you can manage notification settings for the venue (e.g. be notified when someone follows the venue):

  • Tap Notification Preferences on the edit screen to configure alerts.

Deleting a venue

Only Administrators can delete a venue.
Deletion is permanent — events linked to this venue will lose the venue association.
  1. Tap Delete Venue at the bottom of the edit screen.
  2. Confirm in the dialog.
