How Sway handles your data, and how to manage notifications, block and report users.

Privacy & Safety

This page explains how Sway handles your personal data, and how to control your privacy, notifications and safety settings within the app.

Your data & privacy

Sway does not sell or share your personal data with third parties.

  • Your account information (email, username, profile picture) is stored securely and used only to operate the app.
  • Your activity data (events viewed, artists followed, interactions) is used to personalise recommendations within the app.
  • Sway uses PostHog for product analytics. This helps the team understand how the app is used in aggregate (feature usage, screen flows, error rates). PostHog data is anonymised and pseudonymised — no raw personal identifiers are sent.
  • Sway does not use your data for advertising purposes.

For the full details, read the Sway Privacy Policy.

Notification preferences

You can control which notifications Sway sends you at any time.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Notification Preferences.
  3. Toggle individual notification types on or off:
    • Ticket notifications — updates about your ticket orders
    • Event notifications — reminders and updates for events you follow
    • Artist notifications — activity from artists you follow
    • Promoter notifications — activity from promoters you follow
    • Venue notifications — activity from venues you follow
    • Social notifications — mentions, messages and interactions
    • Follow notifications — alerts when someone follows an artist, promoter or venue you administer
You can also manage system-level notification permissions (push notifications) from your device settings: iOS: Settings → Sway → Notifications. Android: Settings → Apps → Sway → Notifications.

Blocking a user

Blocking a user hides their profile and content from you across the entire app, and prevents them from interacting with you.

What blocking does:

  • Their profile, posts and activity become invisible to you.
  • They can no longer send you direct messages.
  • They will not appear in your recommendations or search results.

How to block a user:

  1. Navigate to the user's profile page.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Block user.
  4. Confirm the action.
You can view and manage your list of blocked users at any time from Settings → Blocked users. Unblocking a user restores normal visibility.

Reporting a user

If you encounter inappropriate behaviour, harassment or content that violates Sway's community guidelines, you can report a user directly from their profile.

How to report a user:

  1. Navigate to the user's profile page.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap Report user.
  4. Select a reason and submit the report.

Reports are reviewed by the Sway moderation team. Submitting a report does not automatically block the user — you can block them separately if needed.

Account deletion

If you want to permanently delete your Sway account and all associated data:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Your account profile → tap Edit.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm the deletion.
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All your profile data, event history, messages and saved content will be removed and cannot be recovered.

See Edit Your Profile for the full step-by-step guide.
