Create an Artist

How to create an artist page on the Sway mobile application.

Artist pages on Sway are public pages that showcase a DJ, band, live act or any musical artist. Followers receive notifications when the artist is added to an event lineup.

How to open the creation screen

  1. Open the Create page sheet. Two entry points open the same sheet:
    • Explore → the + in the top bar;
    • Settings → the floating + at the bottom right.
  2. Choose Create Artist.
Settings is reached from your profile: on Explore, tap the avatar at the top right, then the gear icon. See Getting around the app.

Form fields

The form is grouped into three sections: Cover, Identity and About.

Cover image (required)

Tap the image slot at the top of the form and pick a photo from your gallery. The app then opens a cropper locked to a square (1:1) — frame the picture and confirm.

  • Minimum 400 × 400 px, so the crop still looks sharp on a large screen.
  • Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.
  • The image is uploaded when you submit the form.

Artist name (required)

Enter the public name of the artist as it should appear on Sway.

  • Maximum length: 500 characters.

Description (required)

Write a description of the artist.

  • Supports Markdown formatting: bold, italic, links, lists, headings.
  • Tap the Preview button (toolbar) to see the rendered output before submitting.
  • Maximum length: 2 000 characters.
Tips for a good artist description:
  • Describe their musical universe, influences and style.
  • List any notable past events or residencies.
  • Genres can be assigned after creation from the artist edit page.
  • All links can be added or updated after creation from the artist edit page. Supported link types:
    • Music platforms: Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, Apple Music, Deezer, Bandcamp, Tidal
    • Social media: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, Wikipedia
    • Contact: multiple email addresses
  • Website and additional contact options will be available in a future update.

Above the submit button, a checkbox asks you to confirm that you have the legal authority to bind the page you are creating, and that you accept Sway's Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy in its name and in your own name personally. Both are tappable links. The form cannot be submitted until the box is ticked.

The submit button stays greyed out until the form is complete, and the reason is written just above it — a missing required field, a missing cover image, or the legal confirmation.

Submitting the form

Tap CREATE ARTIST in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

What happens next:

  1. The artist page is created on Sway.
  2. You are automatically added as the Administrator of this artist page.
  3. You are automatically set as a follower of the artist.

After creation

Once the artist profile is created, you can:

  • Edit all details, add genre tags and social media links from the artist page.
  • Invite team members to manage the page: open the page, tap the ⋯ menu → Edit, then the manage-access icon in the edit screen's top bar.
  • Add the artist to event lineups when creating or editing an event.
  • Share the artist page with others so they can follow it.
