Personal Chats
Your private and group chats from the Sway app are in Messages too, under Personal. They are the same conversations: a message written on the web shows on your phone, and the other way round.
Open a chat
Click Personal in the inbox, or find the chat under All. A private chat carries the other person's name and picture; a group, its name and a three-person icon, with the number of people under it.
The events' community chats are not here: they are run from the event, see Community chat.
Write
Type in Write a message..., then Enter or Send; Shift+Enter starts a new line.
Add an image attaches up to ten images. Each one is checked before it is posted, like in the app: an image refused says This image was refused by moderation.
Start a chat
- Click New at the bottom of the inbox, then Someone.
- Search a username. Somebody whose settings refuse your messages is marked Does not accept messages.
- Pick one person and click Write, or several, type a Group name and click Create the group.
When the person's privacy settings keep your messages for requests, your first message waits in their requests, as it does from the app.
Answer message requests
Requests from the app sit at the top of the Requests filter, under From the app: Accept opens the chat, Decline refuses it.
Groups
The menu at the top of a group holds Rename, Add people and Leave. Leaving asks Leave this group? first: you no longer see its messages, and someone in the group can add you back.
Delete or report a message
In a message's menu, Delete removes one of yours, for everyone. Report sends someone else's to the Sway team: see Privacy and safety. A message taken down by moderation reads Removed by a moderator.
Where the rest lives
- Messages: the inbox, the badge and the emails. The app already pushes your chats to your phone, so they are only emailed when it cannot.
- Your Account: the follow and message requests of your profile.
Offers
Booking offers in a conversation between pages in the Sway web app: making an offer, accepting, declining or countering it, and how it lands in the promoter's bookings.
Privacy and Safety
Privacy and safety in the Sway web app's Messages: who can read a conversation, how files are kept, the scam alerts, reporting a message and blocking a page.
