Shop
The Shop screen sells merch in your page's name: hoodies, posters, vinyl, anything you can post or hand over. Buyers pay on the Stripe account of the page that sells, like tickets. A promoter's products also show on the events it is paid for, and an artist or a venue sells from its own page.
Open the Shop screen
- Open Backstage, then click the promoter, artist or venue page.
- Click Shop in the left sidebar, under Shop.
Five tabs run across the top: Products, Orders, Codes, Delivery and Settings. The status beside them reads Closed until you open the shop, then Open · 3 products on sale.
The shop comes with the Starter plan. On the free plan the sidebar row is greyed, with a sparkle, and hovering it reads Upgrade to Starter to unlock this feature. Without access to the page's shop you get a locked screen reading You need access to this page's shop. Ask one of its admins.
Before you can sell
Until everything is in place, one block above the tabs counts what is missing, 3 things before you can sell, and lists each item with a Fix button that opens the screen where it is done:
| What the block says | Where it is fixed |
|---|---|
| Connect a Stripe account to receive payments | Settings → Payouts of the page |
| Finish your Stripe account: it cannot take payments yet | Stripe, from Settings → Payouts |
| The Stripe account must be registered in the EU | Only sellers established in the EU can sell |
| Fill in the tax details of the Payouts tab | Settings → Payouts, the same tax details as for boost payouts |
| Give buyers an address to reach you (a company's registered address does) | The shop's Settings tab |
| Accept the seller terms and Confirm that you sell as a professional | The shop's Settings tab |
| Add the address returns are sent to | The shop's Settings tab |
| Add a delivery method or a pickup point | The Delivery tab, or pickup at an event |
| The shop comes with the Starter plan | The page's Subscription |
When nothing is missing, the block reads Your shop is ready to open: click Open the shop and every published product goes on sale. See Settings for each field.
What it costs
- Sway commission: 4 % on Starter, 3 % on Studio, a negotiated rate on Roster, taken from the products after discount. Delivery is never counted. The header says it: Sway keeps 4 % of the products after discount.
- Stripe's fee is paid by the page, like for tickets.
- On a refund, the commission is given back in proportion to what is refunded. Stripe keeps its fee.
The money lands on the page's Stripe account at the moment of payment: Sway never holds it.
What buyers see
- On the event page, a shop section at the bottom, before the map, when the event sells merch. See Merch on an event.
- On your page, the same section with your whole catalogue, and a full shop page with one page per product.
- After buying tickets, the thank-you page shows the event's merch.
- At checkout, buyers pick how they get the order (delivery, pickup at the event, pickup at your place), then pay on Stripe. Tickets and merch are always paid separately.
- Paying in instalments: when Stripe offers Klarna on your Stripe account, the product page and the cart show Stripe's own instalment line, and Klarna is among the ways to pay at checkout.
- After paying, an order page with the tracking link or the pickup code, and a withdrawal button for the 14 days the law gives a buyer.
A crew's shops
A crew does not sell under its own name: each of its pages does, with its own Stripe account. The crew's Shop row, under Roster, lists every page with its shop's state, its products on sale and its orders to prepare, most waiting first. A row opens that page's own Shop screen.
